CALL TO COMMUNITY

NOMINATIONS TO TOWNSCAPE ADVISORY COMMITTEE

AUSTRALIA DAY AND HONOURS ADVISORY COMMITTEE

 The Shire of Narrogin hereby invites nominations for membership from the Narrogin Community on either of the following:

  • Townscape Advisory Committee; and
  • Australia Day and Honours Advisory Committee.

 The Committees are established by the Shire in accordance with section 5.8 of the Local Government Act 1995, with members of the Committee to be appointed by the Council in accordance with section 5.10 of that Act.

 Townscape Advisory Committee

This Committee recommends to Council proposals relating to the adopted Townscape Plans and the physical infrastructure of the Narrogin and Highbury town sites, with a specific focus on: aesthetic presentation; access and facilities for the elderly and people with disabilities; and designing out crime or anti-social behaviour.

 Council seeks 4 representatives from the community to join representatives from the Highbury District Community Council, Narrogin Chamber of Commerce, Arts Narrogin and 2 elected members. (Two representatives are to demonstrate their focus in: the Aged & Disabled people; or Indigenous people.) The Committee meets generally at 5:30 pm on a weekday and every 2 months.

 Australia Day and Honours Advisory Committee

This Committee promotes Australia Day, Australia Day WA Citizen of the Year Awards and Shire of Narrogin Australia Day Awards and make recommendations to Council based on nominations received from the community; and makes decisions regarding the venue, program/format, menu and layout of tables/seating and decorations.

 Council seeks 3 representatives from the community to join representatives from the Lions and Rotary Clubs and the Narrogin Chamber of Commerce and 2 elected members. The Committee meets generally at 5:00 pm on a weekday in early December, and again in January, before and after Australia Day.

 How to nominate

Nominees should make themselves familiar with the Terms of Reference document and download a nomination form, both which can be found at https://www.narrogin.wa.gov.au/committees.aspx. Nominations close at 4.30 pm 8 December 2021 and should be addressed to the undersigned.
