Shire of Narrogin Local Planning Scheme (No. 3) Now in Force
The Shire of Narrogin is pleased to announce that the new Local Planning Scheme (No. 3) has come into effect on 3 May 2023, replacing the former Town Planning Schemes of the former Town of Narrogin and former Shire of Narrogin. This milestone achievement is the result of extensive collaboration and consultation with the community, stakeholders, and relevant government agencies.
The new Local Planning Scheme (No. 3) reflects the Shire’s commitment to planning for the future and managing growth sustainably. The scheme aims to provide clarity, consistency, and certainty in planning decisions, whilst promoting economic development, protecting the natural environment and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
According to Mr Azhar Awang, Executive Manager Regulatory Services of the Shire of Narrogin, the new scheme is a significant milestone for the Shire “The Local Planning Scheme (No. 3) has been developed in consultation with the community, stakeholders, and relevant government agencies. It reflects the Shire’s vision for sustainable growth and development, while ensuring that the unique character and identity of Narrogin is preserved. The new scheme will provide greater certainty and consistency for the community and developers and will help to facilitate investment and economic development in the region.”
Shire President Mr Leigh Ballard said, “The Local Planning Scheme (No. 3) is a comprehensive and modern planning framework that will guide development in the Shire of Narrogin for years to come. It represents a major milestone in the Shire’s history, and we are proud of the hard work that has gone into developing this important document. I would like to thank the community, stakeholders, and our staff for their contribution to the development of the new scheme.”
