The Shire of Narrogin is holding an election by postal vote on Saturday, 18 October 2025 to fill vacancies in the offices of President and Councillors as listed. The president has been elected unopposed.

The Shire of Narrogin has 4 vacant seats on Council, 1 for the seat of Shire President and 3 for the seat of Councillor. The Shire of Narrogin is proud to announce that the R.W (Bob) Farr Memorial Library has been recognised at the prestigious 2025 Library Board Awards, with Library Officer Jared Egerton-Warburton accepting a Special Commendation in the Small Regional Library Category for his outstanding contribution to inclusive early literacy programming. The award acknowledges the success of "Nelly the Numbat’s Key Word Sign Storytimes", an initiative developed by fellow library team member Tegan Winn. This innovative program aims to enhance accessibility and inclusion in early literacy services by incorporating Key Word Sign into regular children’s storytime sessions.

The Shire of Narrogin is pleased to invite community members to participate in an engaging and creative “walkshop” and workshop experience, planned for September 2025. This initiative is part of the revitalisation of Narrogin’s Railway Precinct, including the new pathway, the historic Goods Shed, and surrounding public spaces.

The Shire of Narrogin, in partnership with the Shires of Beverley, Brookton, Pingelly, and Cuballing, is exploring the feasibility of a long-distance walking and cycling trail connecting Beverley and Narrogin — a transformative project that could deliver over 100 kilometres of low-impact, off-road trail through the heart of the Wheatbelt.

A transformative trail project may soon connect the heart of the Wheatbelt, with five local governments — Beverley, Brookton, Pingelly, Cuballing and Narrogin, joining forces to investigate the feasibility of a long-distance walking and cycling trail between Beverley and Narrogin.

The Shire of Narrogin has formally adopted its 2025/26 Annual Budget, highlighting a comprehensive $32.5 million capital works program to address the evolving needs of our growing and diverse community. A key focus of the budget is a $12.5 million investment to unlock residential land and support the delivery of keyworker accommodation, an initiative made possible through sound financial stewardship, leveraging of Commonwealth and State grants and a measured 4% rate increase, in response to ongoing economic pressures and infrastructure demands.

The Shire of Narrogin is pleased to acknowledge the generous support of the Dorcas Op Shop, who have donated $2,000 towards the replacement of the Community Assisted Transport Service (CATS) vehicle, an essential community service that provides transportation for medical and hospital appointments in Perth for residents who would otherwise have limited or no access to such services.

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Section 6.19 of the Local Government Act 1995, that the Shire of Narrogin has adopted the new Fees and Charges for the provision of Commonwealth Home Care Package (CHCP) services for the 2025/26 financial year.

In accordance with section 6.36 of the Local Government Act 1995, the Shire of Narrogin hereby gives notice of its intention to impose the following differential rates and minimum payments.

In accordance with Section 3.58(2)(b), the Shire of Narrogin invites expressions of interest to lease Shire-owned property at 30 Gray Street, Narrogin, comprising approximately 2,317m² and formerly used as a kindergarten. The property has historically supported early childhood services and is ideally suited for use as a childcare facility or similar.

(DAP) Meeting – 12 June 2025 The Shire of Narrogin advises that the finalised and signed minutes of the Regional Development Assessment Panel (DAP) Meeting held on 12 June 2025 are now available on the DAP website.

The Shire of Narrogin is pleased to announce that the State’s Development Assessment Panel (DAP) has approved the Narrogin Solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Project, a $400 million development comprising a 200 MW solar farm and 200 MW battery at the intersection of Wanerie Road and Great Southern Highway, some 3km south of the Narrogin townsite. This site is directly adjacent to the already-approved Narrogin BESS (approved 21 May) and borders the proposed Narrogin Biodiesel Plant being lodged with the State in coming months.

The Shire of Narrogin has welcomed the announcement by the State’s Development Assessment Panel (or DAP) on 21 May 2025 to approve the first of six proposed renewable energy industries in the Shire, the Narrogin BESS (Battery Energy Storage System), a $400 million development located 2km south of the townsite on Narrogin Valley Road.

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Section 6.19 of the Local Government Act 1995, that the Shire of Narrogin has adopted the new Fees and Charges for the 2025/26 financial year effective from 1 July 2025.
