Major Milestone Reached for Narrogin Emergency Services
Co-location Project

The Shire of Narrogin has welcomed formal approval from the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) for the proposed co-located Emergency Services Facility on Gordon Street, marking a significant milestone for one of the region's most important infrastructure projects.

The approval confirms the project can now progress into its detailed planning and delivery phases, bringing the vision of a modern, integrated emergency services hub one step closer to reality.

The new facility will strengthen emergency service capability across the region by providing a purpose-built base for emergency service organisations, supporting improved collaboration, operational efficiency and improved facilities for volunteers.

Shire President Leigh Ballard said the announcement was an important milestone for Narrogin and the surrounding Wheatbelt communities.

"This project has been many years in the making, and it's fantastic to see it reach this important milestone. Council has been committed to supporting a modern, co-located emergency services facility because we know the value it will bring to our volunteers, emergency services personnel and the wider community."

"Our volunteers dedicate countless hours to protecting our community, and they deserve facilities that support the incredible work they do. This investment will strengthen emergency response capability across the region while providing a central hub that encourages collaboration between our emergency service organisations."

Chief Executive Officer Andrew Campbell said the Shire was proud to continue working alongside DFES and local emergency service organisations as the project progresses.

"The Shire has worked collaboratively with DFES and our local emergency service organisations to help bring this project to this point, and we look forward to continuing that partnership through the detailed planning and delivery phases."

"This facility represents an investment in the future safety and resilience of our community, and we are pleased to see the project moving forward."

In correspondence to the Shire, DFES Commissioner Darren Klemm AFSM acknowledged the Shire's significant contribution to the project. The Commissioner also recognised future opportunities for co-location with St John Ambulance as part of the integrated facility.

The Commissioner noted that the project represents a significant investment in emergency services capability across the region and will deliver improved outcomes for volunteers, staff and the broader Narrogin community, with DFES looking forward to continuing its close partnership with the Shire as the project moves through planning and delivery.
