Shire of Narrogin Introduces Electric Vehicle Charging Stations, Paving the Way for Sustainable Transportation

The Shire of Narrogin proudly announces the commissioning of three state-of-the-art Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations strategically positioned across the Narrogin Townsite, marking a significant leap forward in our commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly transportation options.

Positioned at key locations within Narrogin – the Museum car park adjoining Egerton Street, Memorial Park adjoining Williams Road, and the Narrogin Caravan Park – these charging stations are set to revolutionise the accessibility of electric vehicle infrastructure for residents and visitors alike.

Shire President Leigh Ballard and the Shire's Manager of Environmental & Health Services, Peter Toboss, were on-site at the Museum car park to inaugurate this exciting initiative. Their dedication and vision for a greener Narrogin have been instrumental in making these charging stations a reality.

"By introducing these EV Charging Stations, the Shire of Narrogin is taking a proactive stance towards promoting sustainable transportation," expressed Shire President Leigh Ballard. "We are committed to fostering a community that embraces eco-conscious practices, and these charging stations are a tangible step in that direction."

The strategic placement of these stations reflects the Shire's dedication to enhancing the convenience and accessibility of electric vehicle infrastructure, catering to both local residents and travellers passing through our town.

Peter Toboss, the Shire's Manager of Environmental & Health Services, who drives a locally supplied Plug in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) work vehicle, highlighted the significance of this initiative: "These charging stations signify a pivotal moment for Narrogin, aligning with our efforts to reduce carbon emissions and promote a cleaner environment. We encourage everyone, from locals to tourists, to utilise these stations and join us in our journey toward sustainability."

Executive Manager Torre Evans noted that “We would like to thank the State Government’s Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DEMIRS) who came up with 50% funding for the 3 chargers”. Mr Evans added “Fees do apply for use of the chargers, which will help defray the operating and upkeep cost of them over time.”

The Shire of Narrogin invites EV owners and the wider community to celebrate this milestone and embrace the future of eco-friendly transportation. Together, we are paving the way for a more sustainable and vibrant Narrogin.
