The Shire of Narrogin has welcomed the Western Australian Government’s release of the Community Benefits Guideline for Large-Scale Renewable Energy Projects, which aims to ensure regional communities share in the benefits of the State’s transition to clean energy.

Road resealing works - Clayton Road The Shire of Narrogin will be carrying out essential road reseal works on Clayton Road between Earl Street and Lefroy Street on Monday 23 February 2026 and Tuesday 24 February 2026. Please expect short access restrictions to properties for periods of up to 30 minutes while sealing is underway — our contractors will do their best to keep disruption to a minimum and full traffic management will be in place.

The Shire of Narrogin has today announced that Chief Executive Officer Mr Dale Stewart has tendered his resignation, following his acceptance of the Chief Executive Officer position with the Town of Port Hedland. Mr Stewart will conclude his employment with the Shire on Friday, 1 May 2026, providing a three-month transition period to ensure continuity and a comprehensive handover.

2026 LANDCARE PROJECT FUND The Shire of Narrogin is pleased to announce the 2026 Landcare Project Fund. The Fund provides financial assistance to rural property owners to purchase native plants for land rehabilitation on their property.

At the Ordinary Council Meeting held on 17 December 2025, the Shire of Narrogin Council resolved to transition the delivery of Narrogin Regional Homecare Services to an external provider. It is proposed that the transition to a new provider will be completed by 30 June 2026. This decision follows an Expression of Interest process that commenced in September 2025 and aims to ensure the long-term sustainability and continued high quality delivery of homecare services for the Narrogin community.

The Shire of Narrogin welcomes the Federal Government’s announcement of $535,358 in federal funding to electrify the Narrogin Regional Leisure Centre’s aquatic facilities, replacing the ageing gas boiler with a high-efficiency heat pump supported by a 200kW solar installation.

The Shire of Narrogin is proud to announce the official reopening of the restored Historic Narrogin Railway Station Goods Shed, to be celebrated with a community Sundowner event on Monday 17 November 2025, from 6.00 pm to 7.30 pm at 21 Fairway Street, Narrogin. The restoration project was proudly funded under the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program – Phase 3. Additional contributions from the Shire funded accessibility upgrades such as a fully accessible ramp and toilet block, as well as exterior painting under the broader scope of the upgrade.

At its meeting on 24 September 2025, the Shire of Narrogin Council resolved to commence a public Expression of Interest (EOI) process for the potential transition of Narrogin Regional Homecare Services to an external, accredited aged care provider. This decision reflects the increasing demand for services, the changing Commonwealth funding environment and heightened regulatory requirements in aged care with the implementation of the new Aged Care Act 2024 and Support at Home from 1 November 2025.

The Shire of Narrogin has cautiously welcomed the approval of the Neoen led Narrogin Wind Farm, the third large-scale renewable energy project to receive development approval in recent months and slated to be located and constructed within the Shire, further cementing the Shire as the centrepiece of the emerging Narrogin Renewable Energy Zone (NREZ).

The Shire of Narrogin is proud to announce that the R.W (Bob) Farr Memorial Library has been recognised at the prestigious 2025 Library Board Awards, with Library Officer Jared Egerton-Warburton accepting a Special Commendation in the Small Regional Library Category for his outstanding contribution to inclusive early literacy programming. The award acknowledges the success of "Nelly the Numbat’s Key Word Sign Storytimes", an initiative developed by fellow library team member Tegan Winn. This innovative program aims to enhance accessibility and inclusion in early literacy services by incorporating Key Word Sign into regular children’s storytime sessions.

A transformative trail project may soon connect the heart of the Wheatbelt, with five local governments — Beverley, Brookton, Pingelly, Cuballing and Narrogin, joining forces to investigate the feasibility of a long-distance walking and cycling trail between Beverley and Narrogin.

The Shire of Narrogin has formally adopted its 2025/26 Annual Budget, highlighting a comprehensive $32.5 million capital works program to address the evolving needs of our growing and diverse community. A key focus of the budget is a $12.5 million investment to unlock residential land and support the delivery of keyworker accommodation, an initiative made possible through sound financial stewardship, leveraging of Commonwealth and State grants and a measured 4% rate increase, in response to ongoing economic pressures and infrastructure demands.

The Shire of Narrogin is pleased to acknowledge the generous support of the Dorcas Op Shop, who have donated $2,000 towards the replacement of the Community Assisted Transport Service (CATS) vehicle, an essential community service that provides transportation for medical and hospital appointments in Perth for residents who would otherwise have limited or no access to such services.

In accordance with Section 3.58(2)(b), the Shire of Narrogin invites expressions of interest to lease Shire-owned property at 30 Gray Street, Narrogin, comprising approximately 2,317m² and formerly used as a kindergarten. The property has historically supported early childhood services and is ideally suited for use as a childcare facility or similar.
