NOMINATIONS TO COUNCIL COMMITTEES & REFERENCE GROUPS

The Shire of Narrogin hereby invites nominations from community members to serve as volunteer representatives on the following Council Committees and Reference Groups.

Serving as a member is a rewarding way to help guide local decision-making, represent community interests, and contribute to the ongoing development and vibrancy of Narrogin.

Townscape Advisory Committee

2 Community Members and 2 Community Members - Special Focus

This Committee recommends to Council proposals relating to the adopted Townscape Plans and the physical infrastructure of the Narrogin and Highbury town sites, with a specific focus on: aesthetic presentation; access and facilities for the elderly and people with disabilities; and designing out crime or anti-social behaviour.

Council seeks 4 representatives from the community to join representatives from the Highbury District Community Council, Narrogin Chamber of Commerce, Arts Narrogin and 2 elected members. Special focus representatives are sought for areas such as Aged & Accessibility and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander interests. The Committee meets generally at 5:30 pm on a weekday, every 2 months.

Australia Day and Honours Advisory Committee

3 Community Members

This Committee promotes Australia Day, Australia Day WA Citizen of the Year Awards and Shire of Narrogin Australia Day Awards and makes recommendations to Council based on nominations received from the community; and makes decisions regarding the venue, program/format, menu and layout of tables/seating and arrangements.

Council seeks 3 representatives from the community to join representatives from the Lions and Rotary Clubs and the Narrogin Chamber of Commerce and 2 elected members. The Committee meets generally at 12pm on a weekday in late November, and again in January, before and after Australia Day.
