PROPERTY CROSSOVERS
If you are planning to construct a crossover (an access point from a public road to private property), please review the key information and guidance below before submitting your application.
Council Policy 12.1 - Standard Crossovers
Council Policy 12.1 outlines the standards, responsibilities, and financial contributions relating to the construction of vehicle crossovers in both urban and rural areas within the Shire of Narrogin.
While the full policy can be accessed via the link below, the following principles generally apply:
-
Contribution from the Shire: The Shire may reimburse a pre-determined percentage of the cost of constructing a standard crossover, subject to prior approval and agreement from the landowner or occupier.
-
Standard Specifications:
-
Urban crossovers typically allow for one per property and must conform to set specifications regarding materials, width, and thickness.
-
Rural crossovers are usually wider and require compacted gravel and appropriate drainage.
-
Approval Requirements: All crossover constructions must be pre-approved by the Shire, with costs and plans submitted in advance.
-
Variations & Additional Crossovers: Any deviations from the standard specifications or applications for additional crossovers are fully at the applicant's cost.
-
Drainage and Kerbing: The Shire may cover drainage works or kerbing impacted by crossover construction under certain conditions, subject to prior approval/agreement.
