Narrogin Shire to formally recognise and thank volunteers at function

The Shire of Narrogin will host an event to celebrate the exceptional contribution volunteers make to the community on Thursday 5 December 2019 and extends an invitation to the Narrogin and districts volunteers.

In 1985, the United Nations recognised the first International Volunteer Day to acknowledge and celebrate the role of volunteers in their respective communities around the world. In Australia, International Volunteer Day is designated as a day for recognising volunteer involvement and a day in which organisations can thank their volunteers.

Volunteers play a vital role within our local organisations in assisting our community to thrive. The Shire acknowledges the importance of ensuring volunteers are recognised for their dedication to empowering and supporting Narrogin and surrounding areas.

Shire President Leigh Ballard said ‘’The Shire is grateful for the generous support of the Department of Local Government and Communities for making this event possible. This event is our small way of thanking our volunteers for their contribution to make our community what it is’’.

The free event will take place at 6 pm at the John Higgins Community Centre, 50 Clayton Road Narrogin on Thursday 5 December 2019 with special guest Priya Cooper, the1999 Young Australian of the Year for Sport and World Champion Paralympic Swimmer. Priya is an excellent motivational speaker whose presentation is a reminder that any dream, large or small, personal or corporate, can come true with the strength of sheer determination.

For catering purposes, the Shire asks that RSVP’s are provided to Loriann Bell, Administrative Support Officer on 08 9890 0923 or by email to by Thursday 28 November 2019.
