Dorcas Op Shop Donation Drives Support for Vital Community Transport

The Shire of Narrogin is pleased to acknowledge the generous support of the Dorcas Op Shop, who have donated $2,000 towards the replacement of the Community Assisted Transport Service (CATS) vehicle, an essential community service that provides transportation for medical and hospital appointments in Perth for residents who would otherwise have limited or no access to such services.

The CATS program has long been a lifeline for many individuals in Narrogin and surrounding areas, ensuring that those most in need can attend critical health appointments in metropolitan centres. The first vehicle, almost 20 years ago, was funded by Narrogin Revheads and Lions groups, is auspiced by the Shire of Narrogin and Narrogin Regional Homecare and continues to be operated by dedicated volunteers underscoring the importance of partnerships like the one shared with Dorcas Op Shop.

Shire President Leigh Ballard expressed deep gratitude for the donation, stating:

This generous contribution from Dorcas Op Shop is not only a testament to their ongoing commitment to our community, but also a meaningful investment in the health and well-being of our residents. Their support ensures that we can continue offering this vital service to those who need it most.”

Dorcas Op Shop has a long-standing reputation for supporting local initiatives, and this latest donation reinforces their role as a key community partner in Narrogin. The funds will go directly towards the replacement of the CATS vehicle, ensuring the service remains reliable and safe for years to come.

The Shire of Narrogin would like to encourage other community members and organisations to follow this example of generosity. Continued support ensures that programs like CATS can thrive and provide critical assistance to those in need.
