Commencement of Prohibited Burning Period & Firebreaks to be Maintained until 1 May 2026

The Shire of Narrogin advises that, in accordance with Section 17 of the Bush Fires Act 1954, the Prohibited Burning Period will commence on Saturday, 1 November 2025, and remain in effect until Sunday, 1 March 2026.

During the Prohibited Burning Period, it is unlawful to set fire to the bush within the Shire of Narrogin. This includes any open-air burning such as stubble, bush, grass, or garden refuse.

Severe penalties apply for breaches under the Bush Fires Act 1954, including fines of up to $10,000 or 12 months’ imprisonment, or both.

Residents are required to:

  • Not undertake burning activities during this period.
  • Ensure their properties are fire-safe and clear of combustible materials and hazards by maintaining firebreaks until 1 May 2026
  • Report any fires immediately by calling 000.
