Chronicle Digital Cemetery Platform Revolutionises Memorial Experience at Narrogin Cemetery

The Shire of Narrogin is proud to announce the launch of Chronicle, its new Digital Cemetery Platform, a cutting-edge initiative aimed at enhancing the experience for families seeking to locate their loved ones within the Narrogin Cemetery.

Designed for convenience and accessibility, the Digital Cemetery Platform mirrors the physical cemetery layout, enabling users to effortlessly navigate through interments (blue), reservations (yellow), and vacant plots (green). Accessible via the dedicated link or by scanning the QR code prominently displayed on cemetery signs, the platform provides a user-friendly interface for the public to explore and interact with.

Key features of the Digital Cemetery Platform include:

  1. Intuitive Navigation: Users can easily locate specific plots, search for individuals based on name or date of birth, and embark on a guided digital walk to the precise burial site using smartphones and other devices.
  2. Life Chronicle: Families now have the opportunity to create meaningful online memorials through the "Life Chronicle" feature. This allows them to share photos and stories of their loved ones, creating an everlasting memory and ongoing connection to their lives and legacy. Interments with "Life Chronicle" stories are highlighted in aqua.
  3. Official Stories Submission: The Shire of Narrogin invites individuals with historical information from credible sources, such as published books, to contribute Official Stories to be attached to the plots. This initiative aims to honour the rich history of the region, ensuring that future generations can connect with their heritage.

To submit a "Life Chronicle" or inquire about contributing an Official Story, users can visit the Digital Cemetery Platform and follow the prompts. A small fee for "Life Chronicle" submissions is applicable, directly paid to the software provider.

Shire President Leigh Ballard expressed excitement about the innovative project, stating, "The Digital Cemetery Platform is a significant step towards preserving our community's history and ensuring a meaningful connection between present and future generations. We encourage families to explore the platform, share their stories, and contribute to the rich tapestry of Narrogin's heritage."
