Youthweek Activities Cancelled

Published on Tuesday, 24 March 2020 at 1:44:13 PM

The Shire of Narrogin regrets to advise that the program of activities planned to take place at the Narrogin Regional Recreation Centre during Youthweek from 17-24 April 2020, has been cancelled following the recent public health advice from the Prime Minister.

The Shire in partnership with the YMCA and Avon Community Youth Services, and in consultation with KEEDAC, Moorditj Youth Aboriginal Foundation, HealthFocus and the Department of Health had developed a program of fun and interactive sports and well-being activities to deliver throughout Youthweek. However in the wake of the recent stringent COVID-19 quarantining measures imposed by the Australian Government, the Shire has taken the required action to close the venue and cancel the proposed activities.

This decision was made in response to the need to ensure that indoor spaces traditionally used for social gatherings do not contribute to the further spreading of the COVID-19 virus. The Shire considers the health, safety and well-being of the community to be of paramount concern in these challenging times.
