Shire of Narrogin recognised with Volunteer Employer Award

The Shire of Narrogin has recently been recognised by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services in their 2021 Volunteer Employer Recognition Awards.

DFES Commission Darren Klem said “The Shire of Narrogin has been recognised for the flexible approach it takes to employees’ volunteer commitments, encouraging them to attend incidents whenever needed as a way of supporting the community.  This extends to support to attend major incidents over extended periods, including a deployment to the NSW bushfire emergency.  As Narrogin Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service is dual registered as a bushfire brigade, the Shire is happy to help with vehicle repair and maintenance and support all brigade members.”

Shire President Leigh Ballard said “It is an honour to have been recognised by DFES through this award, however without our volunteers then these all important community groups would not exist.”  Mr Ballard also said “The hard work was done by the volunteers and the Shire is happy to play a supporting role whenever and however we can.”
