Clinton and Linda Olsson have come home to do business… and indeed they’ve set the bar high.
On the main street of Narrogin, Linda and Clinton Olsson have magically transformed their café called “Est 1978”. This café is one that you could easily fall into if you were on Rokeby Road in Subiaco.
Having recently returned from spending some years in Queensland and the Northern Territory, they were determined that when they returned to Narrogin, they would be running a business of their own and they have certainly turned their dream into a reality.
When asked how they found their first few weeks of business, Linda said “We have been run off our feet and are thankful for the community’s support in their early days. We saw the opportunity to provide a food and barista coffee service outside the usual hours, opening early for breakfast and that important good coffee that everybody loves to kick start their day”.
The Olsson’s have created a space that is modern yet relaxing with inviting casual seating in the window. Once settled, they have further plans to expand their business to their next phase – so keep an eye out for further developments with this business.
Linda also said “We have had nothing but positive comments from our clients. One local family has said that it has been a long time that they have been able to take their whole family out for a lovely breakfast under $50 and that they will certainly be back for another family treat. It’s our aim to keep our costs as low as possible. Our menu is limited whilst we find our feet to minimise the stress on the staff and keep our quality consistent and provide a meal in a timely fashion – and our lovely cake range are all made by local cooks.”
The Shire President, Leigh Ballard, and the Narrogin Chamber of Commerce Chairperson, Bill O’Neill, visited the Olsson’s to wish them every success in their new business and acknowledged their confidence in Narrogin’s and wider district’s community. Linda was presented with a Chamber welcome pack and the Shire presented local wine all wrapped up in the Shire of Narrogin ‘Love the Life’ calico shopping bag.
Shire President Leigh Ballard said “We are certainly getting some great cafe choices here in Narrogin and the district is really getting behind the new businesses in town. It’s really important to continue to look local and buy local first to continue to attract new and expand existing businesses and to make our CBD vibrant, interesting and welcoming”.
