 NAIDOC Week celebrations rescheduled

The Shire of Narrogin will reschedule this year’s NAIDOC Week celebrations until the week of
Sunday 8 - Sunday 15 November 2020, following the
decision by the National NAIDOC Committee (NNC) to defer until the warmer weather.

Protecting the Shire’s most vulnerable members of the community remains a priority whilst restrictions remain in place to manage the spread COVID-19, therefore the Shire will not coordinate any community activities or events to take place during the week of 5-12 July.

The National NAIDOC Committee stated on their website, ‘’The November dates follow the decision by the National NAIDOC Committee (NNC) to postpone NAIDOC Week from the original July dates due to the impacts and uncertainty from the escalating Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic across our communities and cities. The postponement was aimed at protecting our elders and those in our communities with chronic health issues from the disastrous impacts of COVID19’’.

The Shire will continue to work with the NAIDOC Working Group to develop activities to take place in November to make NAIDOC Week 2020 a suitable and fitting celebration of #AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe
