The Shire of Narrogin wishes to advise, on behalf of the Narrogin Sub Branch of the RSL, that the 2020 Anzac Day Dawn Service, Gunfire Breakfast and Morning Service scheduled to take place in Memorial Park on Saturday 25 April, have all been cancelled following the advice of the RSLWA.

The decision to cancel Anzac Day events across Australia was made by RSL National in support of existing quarantine measures in place to help reduce the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), and to protect the nation’s veterans and other vulnerable members of the community.

The Narrogin Sub Branch of the RSL issued a statement to the Shire today saying ‘’Our sincere thanks to Council for all their assistance with Anzac Day, but as you are no doubt aware, we will not be conducting any Anzac services this year’’.

The Shire supports this action and regards the health and well-being of the Narrogin community and veterans to be an absolute priority during the COVID-19 crisis.

Shire President Leigh Ballard invited the community to continue to take time to pay their respects on or around Anzac Day and went on to say ‘’Anzac Day is a day for us all to reflect and remember, and I ask that if you choose to visit a war memorial or other public place of commemoration, please continue to observe the recommended personal hygiene and social distancing requirements and be mindful of others’’.
