The Shire of Narrogin will be conducting necessary kerbing and footpath works during the month of September as part of the 2018/19 Capital Works Program. These works, combined with road resurfacing scheduled for January 2019, will dramatically improve the appearance of Egerton Street. At the completion of these works, new bin surrounds will be installed similar in style to those on Federal and Fortune Streets.

Monday 24 to Wednesday 26 September:

Removal of the existing footpath header course during the day and setting up a safety barrier. The road will remain open, however there will be a need to close a number of parking bays to assist with the removal.

Thursday 27 and Friday 28 September:

Removal of the existing kerb, and renewal of some existing storm-water drainage grates. These works will involve a full road closure, and will be performed at night. A full road closure will be implemented from 6:00 pm on both dates.

Saturday 29 September:

New kerbing will be installed. These works will involve a full road closure from 6:00 am in the morning onwards, until completion, which is anticipated for late afternoon on that day. Sunday 30 September is left available for any minor works that need completing prior to opening the road on Monday 1 October. These minor works may include kerbing and site cleaning.

Monday 1 October:

Installation of the new header course for the footpath will begin. It is estimated that these works will take up to two weeks to complete, however the road will remain open for the duration of works. The majority of the parking bays will be available for use and upon completing a section of footpath, the safety barrier will be removed, and further parking bays will reopen.

During all stages of construction, public and staff safety will be held in the highest regard, and there will be a need for temporary signage to be installed for traffic and pedestrian management, advising both road users and pedestrians that road works are in progress.

The Shire will endeavor to meet the schedule of works stated in this letter, however outside influences such as weather, or an emergency may cause this schedule to be changed. If this is to occur, businesses on Egerton Street will be notified of any such change.

At no time will any business be inaccessible by pedestrians, however alternative parking arrangements may need to be considered during these works. There may be some noise and disruption during these work periods however this will be kept to a minimum.
