Shire of Narrogin Update - COVID-19

As the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation continues to evolve, I would like to let members of our community know what is being done by the Shire of Narrogin to minimise risk.
The Shire is in contact with the WA Department of Health each day and is making decisions for the safety, health and wellbeing of our community, customers and employees based on the recommendations of the Department.

While most Shire services and facilities are currently operating on a 'business as usual' basis, steps have already been taken to manage the potential spread of COVID-19.
The Admin Centre, Library, Homecare and Narrogin Regional Recreation Centre remains open to meet customer needs.

However, users of these facilities must stay away if they have flu-like symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat, fatigue, shortness of breath), or have recently been overseas or have been in close contact with someone confirmed or suspected as having COVID-19

Many Shire enquiries and payments can be made by phone or online, and we are encouraging our customers to use these options wherever possible. Our friendly Customer Service Officers are available to assist you.

In line with advice from Australia's Chief Medical Officer, the Shire and or partners have cancelled its remaining large events for this season, including the proposed inaugural Harmony Festival, the ANZAC Day ceremony and Nightfields. Other smaller events including larger Recreation Centre Competitions, Youth Week and NAIDOC activities planned in April and July respectively, are being reviewed.

The current plan is to continue with our regular programs and events for smaller groups, although the situation is evolving and the Shire will continue to monitor Department of Health advice and review this situation as necessary.

For now, we encourage members of our community to continue to stay informed about COVID-19, practice good hygiene, be aware and be prepared. For the latest information and advice, please visit the WA Department of Health website, which is updated daily, or call the Coronavirus health information line on 1800 020 080.

For updates on the Shire’s ongoing response to COVID-19, please check our website regularly and follow our corporate Facebook page.
