Nominations for the 2022 Community Citizen of the Year Awards are now open until 31 October 2021 and can be submitted at www.citizenshipawards.com.au/nominate .

Nomination forms are also available at the Shire’s Administration at 89 Earl Street Narrogin or via download from the Shire’s website at www.narrogin.wa.gov.au .

The Community Citizen of the Year Awards recognise outstanding contributions by local people to local communities throughout Western Australia. It’s time to reflect on the positive impact of people and groups who are engaged in, and committed to, your local area, whether they live here or the local community benefits from their work.

Shire President Leigh Ballard noted “The Awards present an opportunity for all of us to celebrate these outstanding contributions in the following four categories:

  • Community Citizen of the Year
  • Young Community Citizen of the Year (under 25 years of age)
  • Senior Community Citizen of the Year (over 65 years of age)
  • Active Citizenship (Group or Event),

and I encourage nominations which will be assessed by our local Committee.”

Nominations can be made for contributions to education, health, fundraising, voluntary services, business, sports, arts, the environment, social inclusion or any other area that enhances the wellbeing of the community.

We especially encourage people from diverse backgrounds to consider nominating, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, women, young people, those living with disabilities and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.

The Community Citizen of the Year Awards are an Auspire – Australia Day Council WA program, supported by councils across Western Australia, with Awards Patron The Honourable Kim Beazley AC Governor of Western Australia. They are also supported by 9News Perth, WA Today, News Talk 6PR and Lotterywest.
