The Shire of Narrogin has been successful in securing funding from the WA State Government through its Department of Fire and Emergency Services Mitigation Activity Funds totalling $184,500.

Mitigation (risk reduction) activities will be carried out on Crown lands that are managed by the Shire and deemed to be at high risk of bushfire, as well as Shire managed land and reserves. The funds received are for 33 mitigation activities and includes areas in Foxes Lair, White Road Landfill site, Highbury townsite, the Narrogin Caravan Park and parkland reserves around the built up areas of Narrogin and Highbury.

The mitigation works include prescribed burning, installation of gates and fencing, creating and re-establishing strategic fire breaks and eco mulching of high fuel areas.

The contract for works has been awarded to Fire Mitigation Services (FMS) who will be commencing the bush fire mitigation works during the period of April/May this year as weather and seasonal conditions permit.
