Changing Places - improving community access

Did you know a Changing Place is currently under construction at Gnarojin Park?  It is adjacent to the existing public toilets near the Skate Park. The Shire expects to complete the build by December 2017.

In May 2015, the WA State Government committed $2 million to support local governments to establish a network of Changing Places across WA. Changing Places are secure, clean facilities for people with disability who need space and assistance to use the bathroom when out and about in the community.

The project is being implemented in collaboration between the Disability Services Commission, the WA Local Government Association (WALGA) and National Disability Services (NDS) WA. The $2 million funding is supporting a total of 18 local governments to build Changing Places in their respective communities. The Shire of Narrogin is one of these local governments, after its success in its bid to receive a grant for $66,000 from the State. The project's total cost is over $100,000 with the Shire having committed  $33,000 in cash to the project and making a further commitment to in-kind work of over $6,000.
