Artsource, on behalf of the Shire of Narrogin, will be conducting a workshop on public art with a follow up masterclass for local artists interested in extending their studio based practice through public art commissions. Independent art consultant Beverley Iles, artist Penny Bovell and Artsource staff will guide participants through the various stages of developing, commissioning and delivering public artworks. The workshop is tailored specifically to Narrogin and includes discussion of existing and potential sites, local history and culture and aspects of public and community engagement. The Masterclass will focus on preparing and delivering a professional concept, understanding commission agreements and an introduction to delivering design documentation.

Participants receive a broad introduction to public art in relation to the Shire of Narrogin’s Public Art Strategy currently under development. Participants are guided through the commissioning and delivery of public art concepts, with the afternoon dedicated to a site-specific analysis of key potential sites for public art in Narrogin. The workshop is suitable for local artists and for a wider audience with an interest in public art in general, or in the future of public art in Narrogin.

The closing afternoon gives an opportunity for one-on-one feedback and small group workshops. Suitable for artists interested in developing their practice. Day 2 attendees must have attended Day 1 on Friday 4 May 2018.
