Exhibition: From Norfolk to Narrogin (Susan Riley)
Past Event
Narrogin artist Susan Riley’s first solo exhibition – From Norfolk to Narrogin – will be on display at NEXIS (Narrogin Exhibition Space) throughout August.
Susan was born in Norwich, England, and cultivated her love of painting and drawing at boarding school as an escape from the pain of separation from her family.
The exhibition will showcase a range of retrospective and new works developed through Susan’s lifetime, many of which have not previously been on public display.
Volunteer Karen Keeley has assisted in collating the exhibition. She describes Susan as a courageous artist.
“I have seen works from her school days right through to her current work. The talent she showed as a young woman has continued to develop and she continues to produce more and more exciting pieces.”
Susan moved to Narrogin in 1964 and was a founding member of the Narrogin Art Group and the Narrogin town gallery (now known as NEXIS) and along with other dedicated local artists, organised exhibitions and workshops for a number of years.
She has exhibited widely throughout WA in various exhibitions, won many prizes and has work held in the Shire of Narrogin’s and private collections. [ENDS]
