COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Community Development in Local
Government promotes partnerships
between Council, Community Groups, funding bodies and organisations
to develop projects, activities or events which enhance and
strengthen community life. It aims to promote an overall planned
approach so that community resources are shared and used in the best
way.
Community Development projects
can extend across a whole range of community
services such as Community Arts & Culture, Art Gallery, Public
Museum, Local History and Heritage, Local Art, Touring Shows,
Townscape, Park and Playgrounds, Disability Support and Access,
Recreation, Family and Children, Young People & Seniors.
Community Development Officers can assist community groups and individuals to access funding and local resources and to liaise with Council to develop their projects.
